The Firm Event: BOAT PARTY

Hello folks.  Here is some information on a great event, The Boat Party.  It is run by the firm and it is fantastic.  I have been on it myself and had a great time playing, receiving a number of spankings and canings while going up the Thames river.  What could be better?!  Here are the details:

The Boat is unique. 

Before we go any further, you can now buy tickets for The Boat online at www.joannalark.com   

We set sail from St Katherine’s Pier (North downriver side of Tower Bridge) at 9pm, Saturday 26th June; then past HMS Belfast, under Tower Bridge, past Canary Wharf and the Dome towards the Barrier, then upriver perhaps as far as Putney before turning for home.  Docking at 2am.

There is dungeon equipment, music, delicious canapés served by our ever-attentive maids; AND you can do SM with your lover while cruising right through the heart of one of the most beautiful capital cities in the world on a glorious summer night. You can get Six of the Best going under Tower Bridge.

It is that good.

And it is just once a year.

It is much better to buy tickets in advance - from Zeitgeist, Holloway Road, or by post from Kane, 13 Riddlesdale Avenue, Tunbridge Wells, TN4 9AB. £25 each, cheques made payable to Ishmael Skyes. There have been SM boat parties since 1985 - tell me what party could possibly last 26 years without being brilliantly good?

The Boat is a night not, under any circumstances, to be missed.

Burns Night

Ok folks this is an important message from Ishamael of The Firm.  You may have heard the they had issues with their Burns Night.  It has been re-scheduled as follows:

We are re-mounting our Burns Night supper near to the Barnet Bastille on Saturday 6th March.  We apprecite that it's a bit far out, but finding a venue that will let us use the kitchens is just about the most difficult part of doing Burns Night, and this way we can go to the Barnet Bastille to play after the meal.

Having had the original version scuppered by a former customer with a grudge, we have to make this one work.  Please, please support us, if you possibly can.

So, if you can get down there, then do.  I know it is a little late this year but the Firm have had nothing but problems with this event.  PLEASE don't let it die because of people's ignorance.  This is a GOOD night out...

Night of the Cane

well, it was a fantastic evening, which was well worth going to and I cannot wait until next year!  As usual The Firm did a fantastic job and Mr Skyes should be much credited for a well thought out event.

Mistress Switch and I did a workshop based around Judicial CP, explaining how it works for both sides psychologically and the safety aspects involved, where of course a demonstration was required so I took six of her best with the Cane and then two more with the Singapore!!  OUCH! (but it felt good, and I was able to discuss the endorphin rush post-punishment more eloquently!)

Of course the highlight of the evening was the caning competition which saw some truly excellent entries this year, wit a first time entry winning this year's competition.  yours truly was the compere and I had a great time doing it!

My only sad thought was how much more quiet the event was this year.  We must support great events such as this if our scene is not to die.  I do hope that some of the events of this year have not put you folks off as I am sure 2009 will be our time, so I look forward to seeing you all next year at many of our fabulous events!

Night of the Cane – (Probably) The best corporal punishment party in the world.
On Saturday 8th November Chats Palace 42-44 Brooksbys Walk, Hackney E9 will echo to the swish and crack of countless canes teaching severe lessons to those who really deserve them. The evening will include

School Classes.
Boxing Ring.
Annual Caning Competition with celebrity judges.
Teaching Workshops.
And delicious Indonesian Beef Rendang to keep everyone's strength up (unless they’re vegetarian, in which case it’s delicious Indonesian Carrot Rendang). (Indonesia is where cane comes from).
Tickets £20 from Zeitgeist, Holloway Road; if you can’t get to any of them, you can send a cheque payable to Ishmael Skyes to 13 Riddlesdale Avenue, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN4 9AB; the time to buy is now, not (if you can avoid so doing) on the night, because then we will charge you more money, and there are only 230 tickets for sale. Night of the Cane will begin at 7.00pm and close at 1am.

Dresscode: Leather, rubber, PVC, academic, uniform, TV, evening dress.

Night of the cane - letters

Ok folks something interesting for you....I recently received these two letters below discussing Night Of The Cane....I think you will find them very interesting, especially as much discussion on the history of the competition has already begun:

Longacre October 4th 1938

Dear Oliver

I cannot thank you enough for your timely intervention at last Thursdays meeting, and the thanks of Miss Bridewell go along with my own.

Although I have been a member of The Birching Block for but five years, I have been increasingly uneasy at the stance of many of the Old Guard.

Our yearly competition is vital to our purpose, which is the celebration of excellence in the art of caning, not in the elevation of cruelty.

I knew that I was not at all alone in being appalled at Nettleship’s proposal to enter with a fifteen year old boy as his subject – irrespective of the lad’s wishes: What shocked me was the almost equal revulsion shown by several to Miss Bridewell’s profession of correctrix, and her comparative youth in relation to my own maturer years.

I cannot say that I regret the loss of so many individuals with their fossilised ideas. I am delighted that you have come our way, along with the Charter, so now our competition will go to even greater strengths, not be mired in conflict.

Since the name ‘Birching Block’ seems to remain with those others, I suggest we christen our new enterprise ‘The Rump’.

Dear Leia

I was looking through my collection of school stories yesterday, and I found this letter stuck in a copy of Bunter the Bad Lad (1960). I don’t know how it can have got there, and there’s no receiver’s address.

From what it says, there was a right old barney going on between cane users in 1938, but very little seems to have changed these days; old versus new, and a caning competition going on even before the war.

I suppose it’s just feasible that Miss Bridewell could still be alive, so maybe she could tell us what the row was all about!
